As researchers around the world predict an increase in water consumption, we all need to think about how to use every drop of water carefully and continue to develop technologies that aim to conserve fresh water supplies, ensuring the continuity of normal life for future generations. Agricola International Bacău is proud to be a member of a project consortium made up of 29 organizations, all aiming to analyze their own “water footprint” and implement flexible support systems that will help Agricola to become the first “Water sustainable” company in the food industry from Romania. The experience that the Agricola experts will accumulate in the following actions of the project will allow them to share their point of view with partners and collaborators in the food industry or other industries in all Eastern European countries. Agricola International will collaborate with another partner from Romania, a member of the project consortium, Business Development Group SRL based in Bucharest.
As industries consume more than 20-25% of total global freshwater consumption, we can certainly see that innovation in water treatment can produce closed-loop water reuse of up to 100% for major industrial users and produce new markets of billions of euros regarding saving or recovering water resources.
AquaSPICE started in December 2020 as a 42-month project led by the Technical University of Aachen Germany, funded by the European Commission under the #H2020 programme; it is focused on promoting the sustainability of process industries through digital and circular water use innovations. AquaSPICE innovations will be tested in 6 countries in the European Union: Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Slovenia and Romania, as well as in Turkey.
