Avicola is where the eggs that reach your table are harvested, sorted, marked and packaged. And to make sure we offer you the best products, we pay special attention to the breeding process and the welfare of the birds, as well as the production of the feed they are fed with.
Thus we successfully manage to offer a good and healthy life to thousands of free-range hens, so that they can provide us with fresh, first-class eggs.
Avicola Lumina hosts 18 farms with egg-laying chickens, spread over an area of 20 hectares. They were modernized in 2012, to meet the requirements of the European Union regarding the movement space and degree of freedom of each bird.
The production capacity of eggs for consumption has risen to 75 million per year, and their sorting and packaging is done at a capacity of 45,000 eggs per hour, with the newest generation of equipment.
The food for the birds is fully provided by us, according to our own recipe.
Avicola Lumina produces a new assortment of eggs with an impact in maintaining the health of consumers through its naturally improved nutritional qualities.
Through this project, we aim to obtain at Avicola Lumina (IMM) naturally enriched eggs, nutritionally, with carotenoids (mainly lutein and zeaxanthin) that can help prevent DM, respectively a new variety of egg with the role of functional food .
There is a market for this type of functional food, as evidenced by the Market Analysis from the Business Plan.
In Romania, there is no patent regarding the production of eggs enriched in carotenoids, and internationally the only patent identified regarding eggs enriched in lutein was obtained by Kaw et al (USA, 2010, no. 7758884 B2), the carotenoid in the nutritional formula being extracted from marigolds.
The utilization of by-products resulting from the manufacture of wine as natural antioxidants for the recipes of laying hens enriched in polyunsaturated fatty acids.
There is also the option of replacing synthetic antioxidants in feed with vegetable antioxidants rich in different substances with antioxidant capacity.
The by-products obtained from wine processing technology are among the natural antioxidants that show antioxidant properties because they have a very high level of polyphenols and citric acid.
Several studies show that both the pomace obtained from the fermentation of grapes and the extracts from grape seeds have a strong antioxidant capacity. Considering the large volume of by-products obtained from the processing of wine in Europe and the significant environmental risk that this processed waste represents, we consider that it is an effective solution to use them in feed intended for birds and animals.
At Avicola Lumina we are a team of young and homely people, concerned with delivering fresh and quality eggs to our buyers.
It characterizes our care, meticulousness and dedication to our work and our household.
